‘The Hermit’ -Sculpture by Christian Opyrchal
I made this to express an aspect of myself that perpetuated feelings of being an outsider by retreating into a hermit like social position, simultaneously rejecting the people it felt excluded from and lamenting it’s separation from them. I made it so it was hollow and so that parts of its construction (like the wire armature on the hands and arms) were visible in order to communicate that despite appearances it was essentially an empty construct of my own design.
